Lying between London and Dover the county of Kent is rich in history. The town of Canterbury has been religious centre of England since 597, even before its awe-spiring cathedral was built. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the spiritual head of the Church of England. In Canterbury Cathedral can be found the stone which marks the place where Archbishop Thomas Becket was killed. One good thing came of his death, the Canterbury Tales.

Die Stadt Canterbury ist seit 597 das religiöse Zentrum Englands, also sogar vor dem Bau der beeindruckenden Kathedrale. Der Erzbischof von Canterbury ist das geistliche Oberhaupt der Kirche von England. In der Kathedrale von Canterbury steht der Stein, der markiert den Ort, an dem Erzbischof Thomas Becket getötet wurde. Sein Tod hatte etwas Gutes: die "Canterbury Tales".
