The main difference between hardware and software is that hardware is a physical device something you can touch and see, unlike software cannot be touched. Software is a set of instructions installed on the computer. Computer software includes computer programs and libraries which are stored in computer memory.
1. Application software: performs special functions or provides entertainment functions. It cannot run on itself but is dependent on system software to execute. There are many different types, like MS Word, Excel, media players, console games etc.
2. System software: operates the computer hardware directly to provide basic functionality needed by users and other software. It includes the operating system, device drivers and utilities.
3. Malware: are computer programs developed to harm and disrupt computers.
